Social Studies: Canadian Heritage Fair Project Theme: Water for life
As the theme suggests the topic for your project is water. Think about Canada’s connection to water. People travel upon it, people work upon it, work in it, play in it and work with it. Consider the many different ways and purposes for which we use water for transportation, for agriculture, for industry, for generating electricity, for recreation and for use at home.
Have you ever wondered how water is supplied to a large Canadian city or how farmers use water for irrigation? Have you ever thought about how the water you drink is treated and purified, or how waste water is recycled and made usable and safe to drink? What do you know about how Canada’s rivers were our first highways and how people depended upon the rivers for transportation and for the movement of raw materials and finished products? Maybe you are interested in the roles of the Canadian Navy, our Merchant Marine or Coast Guard both during times of conflicts and peace. Do you know anything about Canada’s ship building heritage? Furthermore, think about how we protect our waters and ensure their sustainability. When you think about it water plays a huge role in our lives.
You may present your project in any of the following formats: demonstration board project, a diorama, a model, a film, a photostory, a powerpoint or any other way that you think would be best for your specific topic.
