Social Studies Culture Project
The following assignment is to be done using “PowerPoint.”

1. Title Slide- Your title page must include a title, a colour illustration, your name and the due date.

2. What is Your Heritage?

Do you know where your ancestors came from? Some of us know the continent (Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, or Australia.) Others of us can be more specific and know the country within the continent, for example, Nigeria, Italy, Japan, Mexico, and France or Ireland. Others of us can be even more specific and know the city, or county within the country. In the space provided below, write down the continents, countries, and regions, cities, or towns from where you know or believe your ancestors came. You can ask a relative or guardian for help! Be sure to include all the generations you know.

History - Show and explain which parts of Canada, the cultural group you’re most closely related to, settled. Tell when they settled, where they came from, and why they chose that particular location. Also, explain how they survived and made a living.

3. Flag – Find or create a flag that represents the culture. Show and discuss what the flag symbolizes and when it was created.

4. Important People - Find one important person that belongs to that cultural group and write a short biography on his/her life. The biography must include the name of the person, a picture of the person, the place where he/she lived, and an explanation as to why she/he is an important member of the culture.

5. Clothing – Show the fashions that this culture wore or still wears.

6. Music – Find a traditional song that belongs to this culture and give the lyrics (words). Insert the song into your slide if possible.

7. Food – Find a traditional dish that belongs to this culture. Include a recipe (ingredients and directions.) Briefly, explain why you chose this dish.

8. Contributions – Show and explain how this culture has contributed to Canadian culture.
