Endangered Animals Research Project
"Endangered Animals" are animals that are close to extinction. They are close to extinction for many reasons, but mostly it is because of the actions or inactions of humans. If we as human beings disrupt habitats or predator/prey relationships, extinction is the end result for many animals. This project requires you to research why an animal is on the endangered list and what humans can do to prevent its extinction. You will present your findings as a PhotoStory presentation. Your research should answer the following questions. At least one slide is needed for each question. Do not include the question as part of the slide.

1. What is the genus and species (look up what genus and species mean) names of your animal?

2. Where does your animal live? (Name the country and continent)

3. What are the major sources of food for the animal?

4. In what habitat or biome does the animal live?

5. What is the life span of the animal?

6. What threats are directly caused by human activity?

7. What is the most serious threat to this animal's existence?

8. If this animal were to be extinct tomorrow, hypothesize the effect on the ecosystem in which the animal lives.

9. Are there any adaptations this animal possesses that might enable it to survive better? What are they?

10. Are there any organisms that depend on your animal for their existence?

11. What is being done to save this animal from extinction?

12. What more needs to be done to save this animal from extinction?

13.What is the most interesting thing (you did not already know) that you learned about your animal?
